Product Description
Middle school students enjoy helping in the classroom. Simulate a real-world experience by having students apply for and perform jobs in your middle school classroom. Rather than have tasks assigned to them (like in elementary school), students are asked to consider their qualifications for a job and will be matched to jobs that they are suited for and are interested in doing.

This product includes job descriptions for 17 different tasks as well as a simple (half-sheet) job application. It is editable, allowing you to customize it to suit your classroom needs.

The jobs include:
*Administrative Assistant - run errands, help teacher
*Ambassador - the welcoming committee
*Attendance Taker
*Calculator Keeper
*Chair Checker - end of day job
*Class Secretary - maintain absent student file
*Environmental Manager - windows, door, and lights
*Librarian - maintain classroom library
*Materials Manager - distribute and collect materials
*Pencil Supply Manager - maintain supply of sharpened pencils
*Recreation Supervisor - organize games on "game day"
*Recycling Captain
*Sanitation Commissioner - supervise classroom cleanliness
*Scorekeeper/Timekeeper
*Store Clerk - sell supplies in teacher's "store"
*Strongman(woman) - carry emergency backpack in case of evacuation
*Substitute Worker - fill in for other workers

If you wish to include earnings for jobs well done, there is a sheet of "Class Cash" bills which would be used as payment. You would decide how the students could spend their cash - prizes, privileges, special treats are a few examples. Samples of the author's salary schedule and an explanation of how this program was used in her classroom, including the organization of a class store (with price list), are included. Posters announcing "help wanted" as well as payday and cash redemption day complete this resource. A chart to display the job assignments and a record-keeping chart complete this resource.

*** Again, this product can be customized for your classroom. You can add or subtract jobs from the application, the job description sheets, and the charts. Class period and dates of assignments can be added to the job assignments chart and and the record-keeping chart has a column for the addition of students' names. ***
