Do you feel like you are missing out of instruction because of students using the restroom? You really don’t know if a child really has to use the restroom or want to buy time from the instruction, so you feel compelled to let them go. With that being said, I have a method that will help reduce the restroom traffic in your classroom and the students will have a reason to learn. Each student will get 3 potty passes a week with their name on them. I also laminate them to get more use. If the child feels like he or she has to go to the restroom during instruction they have a choice of using a potty pass or a friend’s potty pass if the friend allows. Teachers may use their discretion. If a student does not use his or her potty pass by the end of the wee, I give them one point per pass on a test grade. The students really enjoy this. I pass the passes out on Monday and collect on Friday.
