For more effective classroom management and organization, use editable movie tickets to assign seats, group students, dole out group roles, conduct drawings, and organize lines to lunch and assemblies. To help students warm up to the idea of assigned seats, use movie tickets as a fun way to assign seats and make seat numbers and other information such as room number, teacher's name, and locker numbers known to students. Students keep their movie tickets to help them remember the room number and their assigned seats. To add more excitement to the tickets, conduct drawings using the seat assignment movie tickets during the first few weeks of school.
The 40 editable assigned seating movie tickets in Section 1 of this resource can be used to assign seating in the classroom, organize efficiently the formation of student lines to the lunchroom, media center, music room or assembly area, and to conduct drawings for roles such as teacher helper, line leader, technology assistant, and materials organizer and for prizes such as a fun pencil, free homework pass, or free admission to a dance or a football game. For effective classroom management, a plan is needed to group students for activities and remediation. To minimize inappropriate classroom behaviors, it is important that grouping students be done quickly and effectively. Hence, have a ready-made plan in place so that unexpected or planned grouping can be executed as smoothly as possible. Consider grouping students using movie tickets. It’s a different idea that most likely will appeal to most students. Ten different movie tickets to use for grouping and ideas on how to effectively use them to group students are included in this resource in Section 2. All 60 tickets in this section are editable. The movie titles in this section are 2017 movie titles. To make the resource more practical over time, all titles can be edited to incorporate newer released movies or to appeal to the interest of the age group of your students. In addition to the 60 editable tickets in Section 2, the resource includes information about the grouping tickets and how to use them, ideas on how to use the tickets to define students' roles within groups, and movie title signs to be used to identify the locations of where students in the various movie groups meet. The movie tickets in Section 2 can be used to assign students to differentiated instructions groups, as well.
