In my classroom I have created a culture where students always know what is expected of them. I have different procedures for kids standing up, lining up and attention getter. I have a job system so students know all of their responsibilities. I drew and painted them myself.
In this first group there are three 8.5 X 11 posters of classroom procedures.
1. Focus Position: Students sit with their hands together and their eyes tracking the teacher.
2. Position 1: Students stand behind their desk with their seats pushed in and their mouths closed.
3. Position 2: Students line up in a straight line with their mouths closed
In the second group I have a job system for a classroom. I have 2 different sizes for personal preference 2 jobs on one 8.5 X 11 or 4 jobs on one 8.5 X 11. The Jobs include:
Restroom Monitor Boy
Restroom Monitor Girl
In this third group of 8.5 X 11 posters of hand signal posters for when students want a drink of water, need to sharpen a pencil, need a tissue, go to the restroom, or need to throw something away. With these signals I can easily give a not or just say yes and not have to waste classroom instruction time.
