Prepare for seamless classroom transitions! I was struggling in my Kindergarten classroom with transitions until a teaching coach taught me this little trick. I loved it so much I made visual aides to help initially explain the process to students. We use the visual aides to practice the transition tool several times until we perfect it, then I hang the visual aides up in the classroom as a reference for myself and students. The transition tool involves counting 1 - 4. Each number has a specific action for the students to complete when they hear the number counted. The transition tool can help ease transitions from a carpet/rug to students desks, or from student desks to a carpet/rug or even one set of desks/tables to another. Students think the process is a game (sneaky, sneaky teacher I am...) and even ask for us to do it in class for fun (what an ego boost for me!!!). The visual aides are 8 full color posters which contain illustrations of the desired action and number. The product design goes with my classroom "Black Rainbow Chalkboard" theme.
