PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

I use Financial Literacy to help with classroom management positively. Throughout the week, my partner and I give tally marks to students for various reasons such as: turning in signed papers, one for each piece of homework turned in, working well in groups, following directions, and 100 in conduct for the week. On Friday, students receive their "Pay Check", which we determine based on how many tally marks and for which category. Categories are worth different amounts. 100 in conduct is worth $5, following directions is worth $1, and so on. When they get their paycheck, they must pay fines if they had any conduct marks or if they forgot their supplies at all during the week. For conduct marks- each individual day gets its own tally (For instance: if "Johnny" had one conduct mark on Monday and two on Wednesday, then they would owe .50 for Monday and $1.50 for Wednesday). Students must also be able to pay their "Bills". They pay $5 to rent their desk space, $2.50 for sharpened pencils (Electric Bill), and $2.50 for the ability to use the bathroom during class time, unless it is an emergency (Water and Gas Bill). If they cannot pay all their bills, they lose the privilege. A student who cannot pay their rent has their desk moved away from their group until they can make their rent. There are periodic rewards students must be able to afford, such as treasure box (different amounts), extra recess ($5) or a dance party ($30). Students learned quickly that they must take care of their bills in order to have fun with their money. I have attached the letter I sent home to explain the program to parents, as well as the tracker we use to determine the weekly paychecks. They are on Microsoft Word and are editable to fit your needs.
