This activity can be presented as a group work or an individual task. I suggest placing students in groups of no more than 3. Students walk around the classroom and measure the listed items in the assignment. After students have taken their measurements in centimeters, they are asked to convert these measurements in meters and centimeters. The goal is for students to practice measuring and converting metric units. A discussion about precision and accuracy can also be had as all students should have measurements that are relatively close.
