I've learned that consistent procedures are the key to my classroom running smoothly. Implementing clear procedures is a lot of work, but it is SO worth it. I hope that these procedure visuals can help you and your kiddos!
As a kindergarten teacher, I discovered some tips for teaching procedures effectively.
- Visuals: Pictures are key for little learners! Students can quickly see what it looks like to follow the procedure.
- Clear expectations: Our students need to know the details of our expectations. How do we sit at the carpet? How do we walk in the hallway? How do we show self-control in the bathroom.
- Practice: Once you teach the procedures, practice them! Practice them a lot!
- Easy access: Display the procedure posters in the room so students see them often and so you can reference them. For example, I placed the carpet procedure poster by the carpet. I put the lunch procedures and hall procedures by the door so we could review before leaving the room.
