It is important to start off the school year by teaching your classroom rules and procedures while also building a sense of community with your students. This project will allow you to do both while ensuring your students have fun. Even if you have never incorporated a PBL in your classroom, the step-by-step guide will hopefully lead you to a successful and enjoyable experience.
In this project, students will work in teams to create a SnapGuide how-to presentation with visual elements in order to demonstrate knowledge of classroom rules. Because this will be presented at the beginning of the year, before students are well-acquainted with classroom expectations, this is not a true PBL, as students are not choosing how they will present their knowledge. However, it is a project-based way to introduce students to the expectations of the school and classroom and to practice valuable collaboration skills. Students will be assessed on their ability to collaborate as well as their final presentation.
