This product was created for students to assess their own behavior during reading workshop time. Students are to color in the calendar based on how well they read during the allotted time for reader’s workshop. Students would color in or write in the number inside of the calendar date box following the guideline on the side of the calendar using the guideline as follows:
4 = I read ALL of the time
3 = I read MOST of the time
2 = I read SOME of the time
1 = I read FEW of the time
0 = I read NONE of the time
Allowing students to assess their own behavior will help make them independent and help them take control of their own learning. Having them color the date box in would be great for younger grades because they will be able to see a visual of how they are progressing or digressing. It can help motivate them to do better the next day.
I have also provided a section where students can tally their numbers or colors based on a weekly or monthly and write out a weekly or monthly goal. I included the whole year so that students can also use it year round for the summer time. I hope this product can help you create a better reading environment in your class.
