This resource includes:

Posters: Use as a springboard for discussions. Color and B/W versions.

Emergent Reader (Color and B/W)

Simply photocopy front to back and fold. No cutting. No stapling. The reader focuses on two sight words: “boy” and “girl”. Text in the reader is patterned and predictable, enabling success for your beginning readers. Students draw the ending of each story, creating a personalized reader!

Higher Level Reader (Color and B/W)

Use with your more capable students. It focuses on the same sight words as the emergent reader. Similarly, students draw the ending of each story, creating a personalized reader!

Original Poem: "Rules"

Flip Book with detailed instructions.

Tic Tac Toe Game that reviews spelling the sight words in the story.

Rules Interactive Activity and Certificate

Use with the whole class or small groups. Great for discussions and in centers! Then give each student his/her own certificate stating that s/he knows the classroom rules.

Writing Activity

There are 3 levels included for differentiation.

Make a Rules Poster

Two choices are provided: “Be Cool: Follow the Rules” and “My Golden Rule”.

The Dragon Who Went to School

Two versions are included: 1) writing an important school rule that a visiting dragon 'needs' to know and illustrating this rule; 2) a similar activity without the writing component.
