This Language of Logic activity can be modified to work for any subject and any grade level. The file can be edited to suit your classroom. The way that I use it with my students is to acquaint them with my room and assess their prior knowledge on the first day of school. I write an order of operation question on an index card or sticky note at each of the locations I want them to find on the checklist. They must write each question down, and then their solution, so that I can tell they did not get answers from fellow students. This is an extremely efficient way to answer many of the first day "Where can I find...?" "Do you have...?" questions and assess a prior skill or get their minds back in gear. This activity could easily be used for words and definitions, states and capitals, synonyms, etc. Happy first day of learning!
