Here is the PERFECT way to help a young writer develop a writing portfolio. The front is a goal page. They will use that page to set a writing goal for an entire portfolio. The stars on the side help them remember to work with a positive mindset and to never give up. There is rubric to let them know what the skills are for the portfolio period. If you only want to work on certain items just have your students highlight the ones they are responsible for. On the back of the portfolio there is a Glow and Grow page for the teacher to make meaningful notes about the child's writing. If they need help spelling a sight word there is a list of words 1 - 200. To help expand their use of interesting words there a page helping them remember words that make the writing more engaging. There is even a page for them to write down words that are unique to them that they want help spelling correctly. After all that there are 9 weeks worth of front and back story writing paper with an illustration box. This is a wonderful way to collect documentation about a writer's development to share with parents/guardians.
