Directions: (Pages 3-5) Make one copy of each page. Put all cards in a large envelope or container. On their turn, have each student choose one card, going around the circle until all cards have been selected or Santa is found. If the student picks a cookie, they say the word “cookie” and set it down in front of them. If they select a candy cane, they say, “candy cane” and then pick another card. The player who selects Santa Claus is the winner of the game. When the game is completed, have each student generate a sentence to tell how many cookies they have collected. You can also have them tell you how many candy canes they caught.
(Pages 6-23) Print out 2 copies of the gingerbread cards to be used for Memory Match. Use the worksheets with the sentences that correlate to the picture cards as either homework sheets or as your grading sheet. You can mark the child’s substitutions to keep as records for a pre test/post test.
(Pages 24-29) Print out the sentence starters and print out a copy of one of the Bingo pages. Cut the pictures from the Bingo page and let the students choose pictures and glue to the sheets to complete the sentences. They can practice the sentences in speech and then take the sheets home for homework.
Pages 30-36 Bingo Cards. Print off one extra sheet to cut out to use as calling cards. Place the cards in a bowl or envelope. Have the students take turns picking a card, practicing the word, find the picture on their Bingo card and covering it with a Bingo chip or candy marker. Winners will have five pieces in a row either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
Page 37 Open Ended Board Game. Practice the words or sentences from the game before the student takes a turn. Use a coin (tails=1 space, heads=2 spaces) to move around the board.
