Once upon a time, I was in need of materials to increase my student’s ability to live independent. I was left in the position of needing to create my own. My students desperately needed a cleaning unit to increase their independence in their respective houses. I developed these task analyses for common cleaning tasks that they’ll need in their adult lives. From this point, I had their peer mentors create iPad videos for my students of the steps involved to watch and learn from. Then, I had the peers take screenshots of the pivotal moment in the steps to create printed color, visual schedules. The peer mentors loved the project! My students loved all of the attention they received in the process! And the result was increased independence in all of the students and fabulous cleaners besides!
