Building fluency with addition facts and number comparison is essential to math development in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade.
CLEAR THE FRIDGE is a fun & easy math game to play to strengthen addition facts & number comparison as well as problem-solving skills.
Just like the games “Shut the Box” & “Canoga,” the goal of this game is to cover up (“eat”) as many of your game board numbers as possible.
To start, players take turns rolling two dice.
After rolling, the player adds up the dots on the dice and then "eats" (covers up or crosses out) one of any combination of open numbers that equals the total number of dots showing on the dice.
For example, if the total number of dots is 8, the player may choose any of the following sets of numbers to cover up (as long as all of the numbers in the set are still “open” or available to be covered):
-5, 2, 1
-4, 3, 1
Players try to eliminate all the numbers on their board. Play continues with the players taking turns, rolling the dice again, and trying to “eat” more numbers.
Perfect for math centers, Math Daily 3 or family math nights. Your kids will love the fast-paced, fun game play.
Happy adding & eating!
