Students review Cleopatra's life and times by organizing 17 items on a timeline and answering 4 questions. Students then classify each item according to a system detailed in the instructions, they have one task to complete for 4 items of their choice, and another task to complete for 2 other items of their choice. All instructions are provided in the handout. There are arrows in the first two lines of the timeline showing students the direction to fill out the pieces in. Additional timeline pieces are provided for students to add their own information if time allows. This could work for a sub! Answers are provided where appropriate.
Sample timeline items and questions include:
--fled Egypt for safety
--defeated by Octavian at Actium
--ensured her sister Arsinoe’s execution
--met and allied with Caesar
--What do you consider Cleopatra's greatest success and why? Would historians agree with you, why or why not?
--If you could give one piece of advice to Cleopatra at any point during her life, what would it be and why? Do you think she would have heeded your advice, why or why not?
