This reading response is filled with language activities for a 4-5 day classroom lesson and center ideas. With detailed day-by-day lessons your students will be responding to higher-level reading and writing prompts.
Responding to literature allows the writer to explain their comprehension on a more rigorous level. By having an oral discussion we are enhancing their thinking process and allowing each child to respond individually to that text. Responding to literature can be as simple as answering a question, to writing an entire essay on the text. When responding, students show they understand what they’re reading by making connections, retelling the plot, sharing background knowledge, experiences, using evidence they find in the texts and making comparisons. You’ll be amazed by their responses!
