Students will learn about world climates and climate factors in this three-part lesson plan.
Part 1: A climate map will be completed, along with a table to be filled in describing the temperature, precipitation and vegetation that goes with each climate type. (teacher will provide internet, atlas, or textbook) (about 45 minutes)
Part 2: Students will compare their climate maps with other maps (not provided) and hypothesize about what factors may contribute to climates in different parts of the world. (about 10 minutes)
Part 3: Students will work in groups to each research a climate factor. Groups will then present to the class as students fill in individual note sheets for each climate factor. They will then use this information to come to a conclusion about the hypotheses they made in part 2. (about 45 minutes)
Included in the zip file:
-blank world map to color and table to be filled in
-Investigation worksheet to make connections between climate maps and other physical maps
-Brief instructions for group assignment
-Note pages for individual students to fill out
Teacher should be prepared to provide access to a textbook that addresses climate types and climate factors, or internet access for students to research themselves.
