Have you been teaching weather and now you’re not sure how to transition to climate? This is the lesson for you! This two day lesson starts with a Venn diagram comparing weather to climate. During the second half of the first day, the students create a folded set of notes on the five factors that determine climate. On day two, students learn about the nine major biomes in the world. They will take notes on the temperatures in these biomes and then explain why these biomes have these characteristics using the knowledge they gained from the first day of the lesson.
This lesson includes:
*Blank World Biome Map
*Blank Venn Diagram
*Venn Diagram Key
*Biomes Notes Key
*Powerpoint presentation with slides that use inches and Fahrenheit as well as duplicate slides that use centimeters and Celsius (27 slides using inches and °F, 13 slides that use cm and °C) 40 total slides. Each slide has teacher notes and/or sample lectures for you to use.
This lesson is designed to address high school Next Generation Science Standard* (NGSS*) MS-ESS2-6. Depending on your students’ understanding climate, this lesson should take 2 days to complete.
