Perfect for small groups, RTI, literacy centers and partner work. This game pack contains 17 different game boards that each focus on mastering 6 different sight words from Fry's First 100 Instant Words. All 100 words are covered in this pack. During this game, students are required to read the sight words and practice writing them.
Number of Players: 2-6
Materials Needed: Game board (one for each player), a pencil and dice
Directions: Each player will need their own game board and a pencil. Players take turns rolling the dice. They must read the sight word that corresponds with the number they rolled. Then they must write the sight word one time. The first two times a student rolls each sight word, they practice tracing over the dotted word provided, before writing it independently in the blank spaces on later turns. If a player rolls a number whose column has already been filled, their turn is skipped, and the next player continues. The first player to fill their entire game board, wins.
Having a set of all 17 game boards makes differentiating literacy centers easier. Students working different sight words can still play against each other. For example, since each student has their own board, one student may be working on words 7-12, while another student is practicing using the game board with words 19-24.
