I am always looking for a simple activity that I can use with my Kinders to practice phonics skills during guided reading. I also try to give them experiences that can build their fine motor skills. I created this activity to give my students independent practice with initial sounds using laundry clips to "clip the sound," thus building their fine motor skills in the action of clipping.
Practice matching beginning letters for each letter in the alphabet to pictures with these fun clip it letter recognition activity. Just add clothespins and let the games begin for your pre-K and kindergarten students. You'll find sets for beginning, middle vowels, ending sounds plus digraphs and blends.
You can use this game with small groups or even as an individual activity.
