This set of task cards & printable resources are designed to build students’ proficiency with time and money as well as build their reasoning skills by providing engaging problem-solving situations in which they could practice interpreting analog and digital clocks and working with coins. They are a sample of the resources available in my larger task cards & printables sets:
Clock Puzzlers - reasoning about clocks and time task cards + printables set
Coin Puzzlers - problem solving with money less than $1 task cards & printables
This sampler includes 8 task cards - 4 cards that focus on reading clocks and telling time and 4 cards that focus on counting and reasoning about coins. The questions on the cards are multiple choice, and some have more than once correct answer, so they will truly push your students to think thoroughly as they work.
Besides the task cards, I have included three printables: two graphic reference sheets and a one-page assessment activity. The first graphic reference sheet is full page and demonstrates how to tell time to the nearest five minutes, while the other sheet focuses on how to count coins efficiently and accurately. Both sheets feature questions for the students to consider and are designed to be the springboard for a class discussion. You can have your students work in pairs or small groups to read over the information and questions, discuss their responses with their peers, and then share out with the group. You could even have your students respond in writing to the questions on the reference sheet.
The provided assessment activity can be used to evaluate your students’ ability to reason about time and money. While this activity sheet can be used as an assessment, you can use it in any number of ways – homework, paired practice, center assignments, or any other purpose that fits your teaching style or classroom routines.
I hope your students enjoy working with these materials. If you find them useful, please check out the full sets linked above!
