I created these games and flashcards when my Grade 4 students were having difficulty mastering some of the content and vocabulary associated with Telling Time. They loved the activities and quickly mastered the basic concepts. This was probably because the games are fun, easy to play, and involve co-operation and/or competition (depending on how the students wanted to play) as well as plenty of repetition!
INCLUDED IN THE PACKET:
• TWO sets of Memory/Matching Cards: one to teach about days, months, years, decades, centuries, & millennia, the other to teach about ‘telling time’ on digital and analog clocks
• Instructions with a variety of different ideas for how to use the cards
• Answer Key showing all the matching sets
TEACHERS MAY ENJOY USING THIS RESOURCE BECAUSE:
---Students can work alone OR in pairs or groups!
--- There is built-in flexibility for different student groupings, abilities, needs, and learning styles!
---You can print as many copies as you need for students to keep and use individually or in groups, or for re-use year after year. They can be bundled into small sets and are easily stored!
---The suggested games to play with these cards are simple and easy to learn. You can choose to use some or all of the ideas.
---Games involve visual learning and opportunities for oral language practice.
---Games can be used as unit intro activities OR review activities OR both!
