This bookmark is for students to use during reading to monitor their thoughts and write them down. The students can use the close read bookmark with any book they are reading whether it's their textbook or library book. The close read bookmark holds them accountable to their time spent reading. When the students know they will have to have meaningful discussions on their story by using the text evidence they found during reading they will be more likely to pay attention to details in the text. The close read bookmark is a foldable with flaps. The covers of the flaps have the symbols representing text details they should be listening for during reading. The inside of the flap is for citing the location of the evidence and writing a supporting sentence stating their thoughts during reading such as: “It was surprising to me on page 7, paragraph 2 when the main character fell in the hole.” The back of the bookmark has book talk language or sentence starters to guide their peer to peer book discussions. I like to use turn and talk techniques and this bookmark guides their accountable book talk discussions. My products on TPT are listed under my name, Karen Wright. Thanks for visiting my store.
