These are printable bookmarks for independent close reading experiences with fiction and non-fiction text. My students use them for small group and independent close reading activities, including Daily 5 rotations for Read to Someone, Read to Self and Read to Learn (Article of the Week). These bookmarks are designed for printing on card stock, then laminating for use throughout the entire year. Later, when teacher provides text dependent questions or extended writing is called for after close reading, students can easily transfer note-filled sticky notes from their bookmarks to the included Reading Response Notebook page. Students can complete work on their notebook page at school or home, and can leave their laminated bookmarks at school thereby greatly reducing the chances for loss. Empty bookmarks then are ready for the next close reading activity.
