Product Description
#8daysofchristmas sale--today only!

This product is a bundle of my two products (SAVE 20%):
-The King of Mazy May by J. London Pre-, During-, & Post- Reading Materials
-Stray by C. Rylant Complete Pre-, During-, and Post-Reading Materials

These products feature all-you-need pre-reading, during-reading, and post-reading activities for the two short stories. The files include complete materials, sample annotated and summarized short story pages, and the complete teacher answer key. For Mazy May, the materials are in both short version packet form and long version packet form. For "Stray," the materials are in both packet form and interactive notebook/flipbook form.

These stories are great for teaching narratives, short stories, fiction, close-reading strategies, historical fiction, characterization, and more.

I used these to differentiate in my 6th grade class. My lower ability and average students read "Stray" and my high average and upper ability average students read "The King of Mazy May."

Items included in the Mazy May resource:
-Introduction to the short story (warm-up, video clip and video guide, informational text analysis, and homework assignment), The packet covers: personal reflections, background/prior knowledge, summary, questioning, character list, vocabulary and vocabulary context clues, conflict types and conflict questions, point of view, plot diagram, cause and effect, suspense in the story (and its importance in writing), and final reflection question on the title.

Items included in the "Stray" resource:
Prior knowledge and experiences, Summary and Questioning, Characters list (and character traits), Antagonist Vs. Protagonist, In-depth question on development of antagonist in story, Plot: beginning, middle, and end, Plot: plot diagram (with teacher key), Plot reflection question (What if…?), Point of View (Doris Vs. Mr. Lacey), Analyzing visuals (picture and cartoon with higher order thinking analysis questions), Vocabulary list, Vocabulary context clues, Conflict and types found in story (covers Man vs. Man, Man vs. Self, and Man vs. Nature), and Final reflection question (focus on evidence and citing where it came from in the story)

Ideal Grades: May--> 6th-10th grade Stray-->4th-8th grade
