Close Reading; Character Traits - Analyzing Characters is a GREAT LESSON for getting OBSERVED!!! Each student gets a lesson guide, a story at their level (or teacher’s choice of story) and a coordinating response sheet/template. Bundle up these items and have them ready to go at a moment’s notice! Great for GUIDED reading instruction!!

These lesson guides (which help you walk through the concept with your students), T - Charts and writing templates were designed help students close read stories more efficiently, describe characters in a story (RL.3) and write about characters (W.9) more effectively.

This lesson as a whole also helps build fluency, close reading skills and comprehension. It’s also excellent TEST PREP!

Close Reading; Character Traits - Analyzing Characters is aligned with the CCLS.

T – Chart worksheets are differentiated for grades 2 – 4 regular and special education students.

I use this lesson, templates and response sheets over and over with my students. I just change the reading passage! I use them with small groups, and I have my whole class use them independently.

Lesson guides, T- Charts and writing templates are differentiated and very versatile. I make 100 copies at a time (color coded by ability level) to have handy in case I want to have my students analyze a character, and I hadn’t planned to.

This activity also helps build fluency, close reading skills and comprehension in students of all abilities.

Templates, response sheets and T-charts can be used for any story or biography.

INCLUDED in this packet.
