Detailed Teacher Notes
The posters are colorful and cute and use the "digging deeper" metaphor to illustrate each read. They're great to put up in your classroom as you teach the Close reading process.
The handouts are loaded with great information about the specifics of Close Reading, which might be helpful to you and your students if Close Reading is new to you.
I love the templates included because they are perfect when you find a really good passage to focus on, but need a student answer sheet. Whether you find a passage in a piece of literature or an article in Time for Kids/Scholastic, these templates will work regardless of the text used.
The heart of this unit has got to be the passages included. These eight topics were carefully selected to be interesting for your students and to have enough text complexity to be read several times. I loved researching the information and learned so much about each topic. I even came away with a new heroine, Harriet Tubman!
I am super excited to share this unit with you and really hope that it is something that you find useful in your classroom.
