Use this interactive notebook for an engaging system of coding. The purpose of this unit is to promote opportunities for students to interact with a text. As the teacher, you can ensure reading engagement and deeper thinking when coding is relevant to the type of text and/or purpose. The benefits of a complex coding system results in students who are reading closely and truly analyzing how the text is working.
There are different types of interactive elements for a variety of text structures and genres. Students will be able to revisit their notebooks in small groups for text structure, informational text genre studies, and close reading. This notebook will give students a place to record their first, second, and third reads.
