There are 4 activities, mini lessons and resources that are fun, engaging and interactive for reviewing or introducing Close Reading!
Activity 1: Close Look with Pictures Activity
Activity 2: Text Symbols & Annotation while Close Reading Activity
Activity 3: Say Cheese? Activities
Activity 4: Close Reading Passage
This is just a suggestion of the order of activities and resources.
Activity #1 & #2 should be modeled and practiced, but can also be practiced in small group or with partners after modeling. Activity #3 & #4 would be appropriate for independent practice, small group, guided reading groups and buddy work to practice the skills and strategies from Activities #1 & #2.
Oh, the selfie. And the hashtag.

If you were to poll your incoming students, I’m sure they’ve all taken at least 34 billion selfies and posted them somewhere. #holymoly #duckface #facepalm
Getting into the swing of school without having technology in their face all the time is always a hard transition. #wait #fortheteacherorthestudent #iphonewithdrawals
Anyways, I created this supplemental resource to use as you get into the swing of Close Reading. This would be great as a refresher for the older kiddos and something fun for the little kiddos. #learningisfun
You can use these supplemental resources any way you wish. Each of the four activities have detailed instructions, samples and suggested ideas and keys.#ohyeah #noprep #teacherslove #kidslearn
Enjoy these fun resources!
But first, go take a #SELFIE!
