Use this close reading strategy so that students have a lens when reading a text closely. Students can pretend to be different types of people/ jobs so that they can examine the text from different perspectives.

My students LOVE taking on the role of different jobs in guided reading. They are always begging me to play the parts of their favorite roles. I even keep a small box of props near the table that we can use when we take on different roles. (For example I have magnifying glasses we use when we look for clues). My principal observed my guided reading lesson using multiple roles and gave me a stellar evaluation.
If I create new roles, I will send you an updated and revised document. Feel free to email questions and please enjoy!
