Close reading involves a 3 part reading process. It requires students to thoughtfully analyze a short piece of text.
In this pack, I’ve created tools for helping you and your students work with text during a close read.
In this pack you will find:
* Text dependent question circles. Print, laminate and attach these to popsicle sticks or place on a binder ring for a handy reference. They are all color coded for first read, second read, and third read.
*Practice arrows. Print these on bright colored paper and laminate. Use during a whole group or small group lesson. Students can use them to point out various parts of the text you might be discussing. They work well for quick assessment.
*An anchor chart that makes a handy reference for students.
*A workspace mini book for students to jot notes during each reading of the text. Cut and staple the pages to make a small booklet. Perfect in small groups or conferences or use as an assessment tool.
