A teacher's guide to implementing the Close Reading routine in the 2nd-6th grade classroom. Teachers will need to select a text, nonfiction or fiction, in order to use the trifold and follow the Teacher Steps and Student Steps.
Close Reading is being used for Common Core across the country. Here is a simplified resource to use in your classroom!
The teacher needs to select a complex text and write a set of text-dependent questions at different levels, ranging from questions about academic vocabulary in the text to questions asking students to compare texts or give opinions.
Once the teacher has selected a text and created a list of questions, this resource is used to teach the close reading routine.
The trifold has been created for teachers who are beginning to use the Close Reading routine as it guides the teacher and the students through the key steps of the Close Reading Routine.
