The Close Reading Discussion Cards can be used with any text. Which makes it very handy to incorporate close reading activities in your weekly reading routine. Simply select a section of the text you plan to use with your students, copy the short passage, choose the Close Reading Discussion Cards for the focus of the lesson and you're all set.
Your Close Reading lessons will match perfectly with your current curriculum, theme or lesson topics because you choose from the text you're already using.
The Close Reading Discussion cards are printed 4 per page. The color of the card tells if it should be used with the first, second or third reading of the text. Each reading taking the student deeper into the meaning of the text.
First Reading: 24 teal cards have key ideas and details questions
Second Reading: 28 orange cards have craft and structure questions
Third Reading: 16 yellow cards have integration of knowledge and ideas questions.
This packet also includes 13 graphic organizers that can be used with any of your close reading lessons. Most of the organizers can be used with literary or informational text.
