The students will read the short story, "Eleven", and analyze it through annotation and discussion in order to gain a deeper understanding. Students will read the text multiple times, making annotations to interact with the text through questioning and forming ideas. They will then discuss their annotations and findings and take part in a student led and teacher facilitated dialogue involving text dependent questions. A close read will benefit any classroom and lends itself to the Common Core standards and the Danielson Framework.
