This game can be played with a deck of playing cards (use the A for zero), or you can print out the numbered cards in the document and cut them apart. A score sheet and directions are included in the download. Play this game to help develop number sense for the number 20. Students are dealt five cards each. Remaining cards are turned face down in a pile. Student chooses 3 of the 5 cards to get as close to 20 as possible. Record the 3 addends and the sum on the score sheet. In the last column, subtract the total from the number 20. Play 5 rounds. Add the numbers in the last column and the lowest score wins. Play singularly, or in teams.
