Code Breakers is six part spelling series. Closed Syllables is the first of the series. It is a phonetic spelling program for students who are learning how to read words using phonics or who are struggling with decoding and encoding words in reading and writing This program uses vowel consonant patterns in syllables/ words to identify letter sounds in order to decode unknown words or to encode, spell, known words in writing assignments. If your students are beyond this syllable type, there are five other syllables types from which you can choose. The package includes model instruction pages for the teacher and students, homework, class work and practice, and a spelling list which assesses the mastery of the concept of closed syllables. The length of time for teaching this unit will be determined by the level and needs of the group.
