This clown lesson is geared towards students who are lacking fine motor skills and need the extra help that step-by-step directions gives. While making their clowns, students will practice: tracing a stencil, cutting straight, curved, and zigzag lines, creating patterns, creating stripes, and coloring neatly. You can have students use more creativity by showing them fewer images. You can make the math connection stronger by working with more than simple AB patterns, which is what we used in these images. I taught this in 45 minute sessions; each class meeting weekly. The projects took 6-7 class periods.
