These cloze passages are great for beginning readers! I've included both everyday and seasonal passages which can be used to encourage the use of meaning and structure as decoding strategies. Close passages are short stories with omitted words. A word bank helps students determine which word makes sense in the blank. The passages can be used as an intervention strategy with a struggling reader. They can also be used as a mini-lesson with the whole class or a small group. They can even be made into self-checking activities for early finishers. Answer keys are provided. To complete the activity, students read the passage and choose words from the word box that make sense in the sentence. After using all of the words, students should reread to make sure the passage makes sense.
This bundle includes both my Cloze Passages for Beginning Readers and More Cloze Passages for Beginning Readers. The variety of fiction and non-fiction passages, including seasonal passages, will allow you to encourage meaning and sense-making throughout the year within all genres.
The two products included in this bundle are also sold separately.
