Product Description
I have used these Cloze readings (Feudalism to the French and Indian War, The Road to Revolution, and The Articles of Confederation to the U.S. Constitution) as the end of unit quizzes for my students and I've found they do so much better when the information is in the context of a story. Instead of quizzes these could be used as a pre-assessment to find out what students know or don't know about that portion of history. They could also be used as a cooperative learning activity where students work together to try and figure out the right answers. There are a lot of possibilities so you can choose a way that will work best for you and your students.

I teach 8th grade U.S. History and use the Creating America: Beginnings through World War I text book. My classes are comprised of general education, special education, and gifted and talented all together. These Cloze reading quizzes let me see how well students are connecting to the story of American's history. The quizzes need to be printed on 11"x17" paper and answer keys are provided for all three quizzes

Included in this bundle are:

FEUDALISM TO THE FRENCH & INDIAN WAR:

THE ROAD TO REVOLUTION:
This is a story quiz I created that has students fill in the blanks using a word bank filled with 40 terms. The quiz is rather lengthy and takes about 30 minutes for a student to complete. Would be a great quiz to give if you knew you were going to have a substitute teacher that day. Could also be used as a pre-assessment before learning about the build up to the American revolution. Students will not use every word/date in the word bank.
