For years I have conducted tryouts for various high school athletic programs from Softball, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Cross Country, Volleyball and Track. One thing that stays the same with all of these tryouts is the need for data collection and documentation. On top of that, how do you compare strength versus speed? Height versus shooting ability? Hustle versus skill? I created a document that is easy to use and easy to alter that allows you to have the most sure-fire, well documented player evaluation scoring system you have ever used. I have personally used this system at not only tryouts but in regards to team stats to find my best overall players, as well as in team practices to drive a fun-filled, competitive practice to see who the “Practice Player of the Day/Week” is. It is also a great tool to use in a Physical Education environment to have a scoring system for different games you would play over the course of a unit or week. The preview document includes step by step instructions and tips on how to use the system.
