This Coat of Arms activity is a great way to get to know your students' funds of knowledge while tying in Social Studies! Have your students create a "Coat of Arms" to show their accomplishments, personality traits, and family values, just like they did in the 12th century.
Students will use different colors to symbolize traits, along with unique ideas to put on their blank shield. Then have students write about what they drew in each quadrant of their shield. After having the kids present and learn about each other, hang up the final project on your bulletin board.
