This interdisciplinary Omega English product that contains a 19-page package and a corresponding 19 slide Power Point. During this lesson, students analyze the poem “Democracy” by Langston Hughes and examine the message Hughes is trying to convey. The 8-page lesson plan is very thorough and in-depth. It highlights the Danielson Domains and contains a model and leveled questioning. The lesson is differentiated in order to meet the needs of your diverse learners, contains group work, Read A-Loud questions, an exit-ticket, and a share out activity. Teachers notes, suggestions, resources, and links for additional support are included. In addition, a 3 page Guided Notes and Reflection Sheet is included in the package. The sheet is comprised of guided notes, learning intentions, and a goal section in the form of an I Can Statement format. Students co-construct the success criteria for the lesson, utilize the Think-A-Loud questions, and formulate their own DOK leveled questions. A 10 question (multiple choice) exam and answer sheet is included. The Power Point contains engaging visuals and animations in order to enhance engagement.
