Want a way to have your students or children work together while learning? This was created to challenge students and to get them to think outside of the box. The students will be coding CVC words for their counterparts to decode. The skills required (or acquired by doing this) are initial sounds practice, segmenting, blending, cooperative learning, writing, reading, and did I mention that the students are creating a test of sorts for someone else to decode! Each letter is represented by a picture that each student uses to encode and decode CVC words. Here is what is included:
1-File Folder Cover
11- CVC Short Vowel Sound Word Bank Cards (a,e,i,o,u) for a total of 95 words
1-CVC Recording Sheet
1-CVC Word Builder Card
1-DIY Word Bank Card
You can easily grow this to have students make more words that are their own. They can develop their own word banks. The best part is that this activity gets students talking about reading. They can discuss if they got the information right or wrong and where they may have erred. This is great for word work time and as a center activity.
