2) This activity starts by asking your students to define words like cognition, prototype and concept. Students will then define problem solving and 4 strategies that go along with it. They will be asked to explain the importance of each of these strategies with regards to problem solving.
Next students will be given riddles to solve, putting their problem solving strategies to use. This is a fun activity to give to your students that will also give you the opportunity to engage with your students because you have the answers and can help them figure out the riddles.
Finally, your students will interact with a math riddle where they are asked to insert math symbols into equations in order for them to all equal 6. This is a great problem solving activity because it requires students to avoid fixation and think outside the box in order to get all of the answers. This activity requires basic math knowledge as well as the knowledge of the math symbol ! known as a factorial.
3) A detailed answer key to the lesson activities to save you time and help guide student comprehension.
