This 21-page book is a fun and informative hands-on unit study on coin collecting. It contains detailed information on coins in general, including their use throughout history and how they are produced. The book also includes detailed information on the history and design of the common coins in use today, as well as several older coins dating back to the early 1900's, with photos of these coins.
Please download the preview file to see the depth of information you can expect to find in this book. The file shows a page from the book with information on the Lincoln Cent with the wheat ears on the back. At the bottom of the page you will see suggestions for details to find using a magnifying glass.
In order to get the most out of this unit study, you will need to have a small basic magnifying glass and some coins. Most of the coins you will need are in circulation today and will be found in your pocket change. The exceptions are the half-dollar, which can usually be found at a bank if you ask, and the wheat-back cent. These are both currently circulating coins but are not often seen.
The book contains 21 numbered pages in color, with many photos. Because of the large number of photos, the file is larger than the TeachersPayTeachers system allows, so the file is hosted on Dropbox. When you purchase this book your download will include a link to the Dropbox file, along with a password to access the file. You will have continuous access to the file in Dropbox, the same as you do when you purchase and download a file directly from TeachersPayTeachers.
