Many students with language disorders have difficulty understanding and using quantitative concept words and they can be HARD to teach! I needed a way to teach quantitative concepts in a fun and engaging manner, so I created the Coin Hogs Game. This fun game can be played with any number of players and targets 18 quantitative concepts! It also includes all game materials in color and black & white!
Please download the preview to get a sample of the cards and a detailed description on how to play the game. I hope you enjoy it!
This game includes the following in both color and black & white:
• 4 Pig Mats
• 1 page of "coins"
• 1 Coin Pot page
• 56 Game Cards targeting the following quantitative concepts:
• 8 Extra Game Cards:
4 Lose a card
4 Take another turn
• 2 Data Sheets
1 Group Data Sheet
1 Individual Data Sheet
• A Quantitative Concepts Prompt Mat to help with teaching the concepts
• A Quantitative Concepts Homework Sheet to be sent home as a follow-up activity
How to Play:
Players take turns drawing cards. The first player draws a card and follows the instructions on the card. For example, the card may say, "Take some coins from Pig #1 and give them to Pig #2." If the player follows the instruction correctly, he gets to keep the card and place the appropriate number of coins in his coin pot. Each card contains a coin value (1, 2, or 3 coins) on the bottom left-hand corner of the card. Play continues until time is up or all of the cards are gone. The person with the most coins in their pot at the end of the game wins!
