This is a set of 28 colorful task cards with a coin subitizing theme. Pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters are arranged in familiar patterns to reinforce counting, skip-counting, and money. Print, cut, and laminate for repeated use. Flash a card and allow students to quickly view the pattern. The skip counting by 5’s and 10’s should be done mentally. Ask students how much money they see and how they see it.
Kindergarten can use the pennies and nickels. First grade can add the dimes into the routine. Even though the money standard does not appear until grade 2, the coins are a great manipulative for skip counting.
There are 4 cards with quarters representing 25`, 50`, 75`, and $1 that can be added for grade 2.
The cards are a great tool for warm-ups or math meetings, small groups, or centers.
