This is a twist on the classic game of "war." Print as many sets as you need, laminate, and you have an instant math center, station, or tub. Students deal an equal number of cards to each other and take turns turning over the top card on their stack. They will count the coins on their card out loud. I always use the "say it to play it" rule! Then, they will determine which card has the greater value.
The student whose card has the higher coin value will keep both cards.
This game focuses primarily on dimes, nickels, and pennies. There are a few quarters (in isolation) on the last set of cards which you can leave out if you would prefer.
